Spiritual Needs Screener  

Implementing a structured assessment of Spiritual Needs requires motivation and time. However, a common concern in clinical practice, is that there is not enough time for additional documentation.

Therefore, a brief screener with 10 items for initial orientation (Cronbach´s alpha = 0.86) was developed and validated (Büssing et al., Dtsch Z Onkol 2020; Büssing et al., Spiritual Care 2022).

It focuses on three main dimensions and allows easy implementation in routine anamnesis processes. It is not intended to replace the longer version, but allows a rapid indication of which areas may require further exploration by psychologists, Spiritual Care providers, or chaplains, as appropriate.
